If you've found yourself here reading this article, you're probably wondering why PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) suddenly changed to the acronym PMOS. The PCOS new name is PMOS, which stands for Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.
Polyendocrine means that multiple hormonal systems are involved. Metabolic refers to the metabolic side of this condition, including insulin sensitivity and the way the body regulates blood sugar. And ovarian syndrome acknowledges that yes, the ovaries are involved, but they're only one part of a much bigger picture
